Abby was born in the Bronx on June 9, 1925 to Rose and Alex Alpert. He married Frances Klonsky in 1950 and later moved to Nanuet, New York with their two children. Abby served in the US Marine Corps from 1944 to 1946 during WWII, and in the US Marine Corps Reserve (1950-1951) during the Korean War, until being Honorably Discharged due to an injury he suffered during WWII. Being active with the Jewish War Veterans was an integral part of Abby's life. He was Post Commander for Post 720, past Orange/Rockland District Council Commander, and most recently a member of its Department Executive Committee. A devoted family man, he was well known for is wonderful sense of humor and his skilled craftsmanship. Abby was predeceased by his Fran of 53 years. His is survived by his daughter, son, daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and his JWV family. Abby died on December 6, 2003.
