Jerome M. Hoffman was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 23, 1925. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard as an apprentice seaman,October 6, 1942. He completed a course in anti-aircraft, graduated Disel School, Navy Pier, 11. He was shipped overseas aboard USS Sausalito, serving theatres of war in the Philippine Islands, Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. He served his country with pride for 3 years and received Certificates of Service in the American Theatre of War, the Asiatic Pacific, and numerous Victory Ribbons. He was discharged November 14, 1945, having served from October 6 - November 14 in reserve active duty. He was a member of JWV Chicago Post 153. Jerome was married to Lila (Levy) for 58 years. He was the greatest husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa to Esther (Gil) Gilfillian, Skip & Kelly, Michelle Hoffman, Diane (Jeff) Kramer, Michael Bloom(Chava), and Sarah Nirit. Jerry passed away May 17, 2002
