Irving Rohssler was commissioned through ROTC and CMTC camps. He was an instructor at the Infantry School, Ft. Benning, and served in combat in North Africa and Sicily with the 1st Division. His service with JWV East Side Post #4 was highlighted by his command of the rifle squad that fired the salute after military funerals. His anecdotes recalled his participation in the marches in New York City that the JWV took part in during the 1940's protesting injustice to Jews. Irving Rohssler is remembered with affection and admiration by his family and comrades as a proud and patriotic American and Jew.
