Lt. Col. Franklin J. Levens – US Army, USA/Ret., deceased March 2, 1998 of lung cancer. He left a wife, 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Lt. Col. Franklin Levens was born February 13, 1919 in San Francisco, California. He was with the 25th Infantry Division in the South Pacific at Guadel Canal where he fought and developed malaria. He was given a commission on the field. He later received his commission at New Orleans, OCS. Assigned later to New York Port Authority. He met and married his wife, a New York model, and was married for 53 years. His last assignment was Fort Huachua, AZ. He retired in 1965 after 30 years of service and worked as a purchasing officer. He retired to Scottsdale, AZ and later died of lung cancer in 1998, at the age of 80. Lt. Col. Franklin Levens was one of the original organizers of the B’nai Brith of Scottsdale. Lt. Col. Franklin Levens was active with all the Jewish services in the Army.
