Henry L. Kaufman was inducted into the Army of the United States on April 2, 1942, at the age of 29. He was killed on December 14, 1944, on the Island of Leyte, Phillipine Islands. During his years of service in the 77th Infantry Division, Henry was held in the highest esteem by his superiors and all who had the priviledge of knowing him. He received the Purple Heart as a result of sniper fire while protecting his squad. He died valiantly in the performance of his duties. Henry was a devoted son, a caring brother, and a splendid soldier. He will always be remembered for his love of family and outstanding service to his country.
