Abraham D. Goldsmith came to America when he was 3 years old. From childhood he worked to help support his parents and siblings. He attended City College of New York, becoming one of the youngest CPA's in New York state and continued his education again at night in Brooklyn College of Law. Before he could establish himself professionally he was drafted and fought in World War II, landing in Normandy and eventually becoming an aide to General Patton. While in the Army, he wrote about the death and destruction he found around him. What he didn't know was that he had only ten years to live. Abraham D. Goldsmith died on November 4, 1955. He was loved by his family, respected by his friends and will be remembered by students at City College of New York who each year are awarded a scholarship in his name.
