Born in New York City to Max and Bessie Melnick. Graduated P.S. 71 and DeWitt Clinton H.S., Bronx, N.Y. Attended New York University and graduated Pace College. Employed in various office and sales positions prior to joining Automobile Club of New York (AAA) Became Sr. Travel Counselor retiring in 1991. Joined JWV, L.I.C. Post 110 in 1980. Became Post Commander 1982083. Later served as Queens County Adjutant, Jr. and Sr. Vice Commander and County Commander. Later served as DEC and NEC. Served as County Boy Scout Chair, Dep't. Boy Scout Chair and N.E. Region Vice-Chair, Scouting. Served as Dep't. Commander 1995-96. Returned as Post Adjutant and Post Commander. Member Century Club. Life Member. Recipient of Louis Schiller Memorial Award for Americanism and Patriotism. Citations from St. Albans E.C.C., VFW, American Legion, and CWV. Active in Queens Jewish Committee on Scouting and local scout council. Recipient of Training Award, Cornerstone, District Award of Merit, Pelican, Silver Beaver, and Shofar. Master of Commissioner Science, Bronze Chai. Member, Coast Guard Combat Veterans Ass'n. President, Garden School Parent-Teachers Assn. 1975-76. President, Young Married Group, Central Synagogue 1964-65; Chairman of the Board of Governors and Trustees, Astoria Center of Israel 1990-99 and President 2000-2002.
