Meyer"Mike"Snider, a court reporter and owner of Stoll, Peiser & Snider Court Reporting Agency died at the age of 89. After retiring at age 78, Mr. Snider taught at the Academy of Court Reporting, where he also mentored the instructors. In the courtroom, he could record testimony at 260 words per minute, and he later shared abbreviations for long, difficult words to help his students increase their speed. A member of Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple and its volunteer choir, Mr. Snider sang in temple choirs throughout his life. With his wife, he drove across the U.S. several times, and their international travel included the Panama Canal and Europe. Mr. Snider enjoyed deer hunting in Pennsylvania and fishing with his grandson. Skilled in scrabble, he also played pinochle and often told Yiddish stories. At Glenville High School, Mr. Snider sang as tenor soloist with the choir. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the US Army during World War II. He became a technical sergeant and ran the postal locator at Camp Breckenridge, KY. Due to his typing speed, Mr. Snider was responsible for each regiment and office branch getting its mail as it was sent overseas. He and his wife lived on the army base for three years. Mr. Snider is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mabel; sons Les and Randy; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
