Jacob Irving Miller was born December 3, 1918 to Nathan and Rose (nee Kifferstein) Miller. He was happily married to Hannah (nee Glaser) Miller for sixty-six years. He had two sons, Michael and Joel, who are medical doctors and three daughters,Trina, Sherrie and Carol, two of which are teachers and one is in food service. He served a short time as Weather Observer, which he enjoyed, and then as Chemical Warfare Officer in the Pacific Theatre of Operation. One of his many wartime stories was that during heavy rainstorms, he and his buddies sat on the ground huddled in their parkas watching a movie. They were unable to see who was wrapped up in the parkas and were always fearful that the person sitting next to them and enjoying the movie was a Japanese soldier.
