The daughter of veteran Jesse Grossman and wife Hazel, Ruth was born and raised in Bronx, NY. She attended New York University and received the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Education. She worked as a middle school history teacher and then principal in Yeshivas for more than 30 years. She married her beloved husband, Robert, a World War II army veteran, in 1948 and lived with him in the Bronx until relocating to Yonkers, NY in the early 1970's. There, they were active in civic affairs and joined JWV/JWVA Post 42 in Mount Vernon, NY. They devoted themselves to service at the VA hospitals, nursing homes and homeless shelters. They continued these activities with JWV/JWVA Post 682 in No. Miami Beach, FL where they moved in 1983. She served as JWVA President several times in both Posts. After her husband's death in 2005, she continued devoting herself to the JWVA, contributing to the newsletter and charitable activities until illness overtook her.
