Born in New York City in 1936. Died December 7, 2008. His childhood was in Atlantic City, NJ. A remarkable "Mench". His Curriculum vitae has more categories than what most people do in their lifetimes, i.e. Education, Academic Appointments, Medical Practice, Hospital appointments, Professional Societies, Armed Forces, Awards based on distinguished service to veterans, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service, National, Regional, and Local Boy Scouts Awards, plus 57 other awards including many from the Jewish War Veterans. He opted to retire in 1990 to have more time to do more good. He lived 18 more years, CHAI in Judaism. He grew up in poverty after his father's passing. He supported his mother who lived with or near him until her death. He joined the Air Force in 1954 for income and educational opportunities. He worked at a mortuary for income while in school. Part of his job was caretaker at a cemetery. He would not touch a lawn mower later in life. While in the Air Force, he earned his AB degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1960. He lived in public housing while earning a MS degree in Biochemistry in 1963 at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, UAMS. This led to a B.S.M. and M.D. Degree from UAMS in 1967. His internship was in Cincinnati and residency in Dermatology at UAMS. A post-graduate Psychiatry Program followed. He traveled extensively by car with his wife, Mary, and bundles of papers to read and edit. Every patient that Dr. Biondo treated was followed up with a telephone call in the evening to find out how the patient was faring. A CARING "mench" from START TO FINISH.
