My father, Harry Goldberg, was the oldest of five children born to Israel and Minnie Silverstein Goldberg. He went to work at age 9 and was very proud of his service in WWI. He personally helped support soldiers disabled in the war. When his battalion had its last reunion in 1936, he was in charge of all arrangements. He was affectionately known in the battalion as the "Big Hebrew.”
