Doris was born on November 18, 1918 the daughter of Charles and Leah Lash in Fall River, Massachusetts. She had an older sister Evelyn, a younger sister Ruth and a brother Donald. At the age of forty, her mother passed away and Doris took over the running of the household besides going to school. Upon graduating in 1937 from high school, she worked for a short time as an office worker. In 1941, she married Walter Labecki and had two children, Lillian and Milton Labecki. During much of her adult years, Doris did not work, but in World War II, she went back to work at Firestone in Fall River, MA, making gas masks for the military. On July 1, 2001, she married Maurice A. Amdur, the second marriage for both of them. Several years later, she developed Alzheimer’s disease and ended up living in a nursing home. She passed away on May 28, 2007 from a heart attack. She was survived by her husband, Maurice, her daughter Lillian and son-in-law Ernest Glickman, her son Milton Labecki, her granddaughter Corey and her husband Stuart Schwartz, her two great-grandchildren Tyler and Devin Schwartz.
