My Story of Us...... by Adele Furman. Way back in 1939, my Grandmother asked me to please try to find her cousins who had left London for America just before my Grandmother and family left London in 1905. Neither had heard from each other since. I arrived in New York in August of 1939 to visit with my Aunt, my Dad’s sister. I told her about wanting to find my Grandmother’s family. Being a wise and wonderful person, my Aunt contacted another part of the family who in turn led us to the long lost cousins. We all went to visit the family and we were thrilled to find each other. This part of the family had a grown son a few years older than I; they asked me to spend a week with them and I was happy to. The son arranged a beach party in my honor and invited a large group of young people. Amount the group of people was the man who would become my husband eventually. First, I had to get back home and return the engagement ring I had accepted from someone in my home town, for once I got to know Lou Furman I realized he was the man for me. We weathered the ups and downs of life and managed to live in harmony for over 65 years. He was a man to be proud of. The walls of his study are filled with citations from hospitals, museums, art leagues, whom ever he was involved with over the years. I was proud to be his wife and many young people have admitted to wishing we had been their parents. Pictured are Louis, his wife Adele and his daugther Wendy. In the second photo is three generations of Furmen men - Louis, son Jeffrey and grandson Michael.
