Edward was born in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Temple University and graduated as an accountant. Shortly thereafter in May 1942, he was inducted into the Army. During the week of his 22nd birthday, August 1941, he met his wife on the boardwalk in Atlantic City. She was 16 living in New York and he in Philadelphia. They were both on vacation but that did not deter him from continuing to court her even while sitting in back of the classroom while she was completing her High School graduating classes. They were married September 30, 1942. In May 1944 their daughter Valorie was born, at which time Edward left for Le Havre, France, serving under General Bradley in the 1153rd Combat Engineers. He fought through the Battle of the Bulge skirmishes and continued on to the Rhine. At that time the war ended in Europe. He returned home in 1945 for Thanksgiving. In 1950 another daughter, Cheryl, was born. They moved to New York and where they ultimately had 5 grandchildren: David and Rachel Myers: Desiree, Lysandra and Ross Rau; followed by 5 great grandchildren; Brittany, Joey, & Tyler Allocca, Shane Rae & Alexandra Valorie Myers. He was the Best Father, Husband, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.
