At Israel's Tel Ha Shomer hospital there is a plaque commemorating the JWV Ladies Auxiliary. Jeanette Schneider was instrumental in the purchase of an ambulance during her reign as National President. Her name appears on that plaque. The relationship between Tel Ha Shomer hospital and the Jewish War Veterans was enhanced when the director joined us for dinner at my parent's home in the Bronx. My mother was so proud to be a part of the JWVA sisterhood. A student of elocution, adorned by colorful hats, she delivered wonderful speeches at luncheons for her JWVA sisters. She was devoted to her family and friends and to serving her community. Jeanette Schneider participated at ward parties in VA hospitals, helped children to read with school volunteer programs and taught defensive driving in her later years. Her role model was Eleanor Roosevelt, and like Mrs. Roosevelt, anyone who knew Jeanette Schneider was better for it.
