Heshvan 10, 5772

August 28, 1921 to November 6, 2011

Morris "Morry" Hecht, a true American patriot, enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 hoping to serve his country in Germany during World War II. However, he was sent to the Solomon Islands after completing his basic training. Upon returning to the United States from the South Pacific, he attended Officers Training School in New Orleans, where he received his lieutenant's commission and bars. With great pride and love, he invited Ruth Linder, his future bride to attend the ceremony. They were happily married for over 65 years. After leaving the service, Morry continued to remain active in the Jewish War Veterans. He was the loving father of Mimi (Russ) and Neila (Danny), and zadie of Gilit (Pete), Carin (Ben), and Alon. Morry was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, where he lived his entire life, remaining a loyal Pirates and Steelers fan. In addition to being a loyal American and fantastic role model, Morry was also an extremely successful and admired business man. His wife and he were the owners of Schorin Company, in the Strip District. Through their hard work and dedication, Schorin Company grew, and still remains an anchor in the Strip District. Morry was a shining light in this world for over 90 years. Those whose lives he touched will be forever changed. We may be suffering a great loss on earth, but heaven is gaining an extraordinary soul.
