Sylvia was born in Philadelphia. She married on November 5, 1944 to Edward Benjamin Meyers until his death on July 13, 1998. Sylvia met Edward working at the Navy yard during WWII. She and Edward owned a Grocery Store (PA) and a Butter and Egg Route (NJ/PA). She worked at Mercer Hospital (NJ), Strick Trailer (PA) and ETS (NJ). Sylvia was the mother of three children, Jay, Cynthia, Marc, and grandmother to seven grandchildren. She lived in Cleveland (OH), Philadelphia (PA), Levittown (PA) and Plantation (FL). In Pennsylvania she was very active in JWVA, USO and Past President of Bristol Jewish Center synagogue. In Florida, she was active in JWVA #730 and Women’s League for Israel holding positions of Treasurer and County/Department President. She was National Chairman for National Museum of Jewish History. She was active in League of Women Voters. She was very generous with her money and time often taking members to events. She took hers and Edwards’ nieces/nephews into their home (when needed) and adopted a close friend as a sister. She treated her health care helpers like family. Everyone loved her dearly and she is sorely missed.
