David Berry was in the Cavalry and in France during World War I as an enlisted man. While in France, he was kicked by a horse and walked with a slight limp all his life. The skin was not broken, and so he was not awarded a Purple Heart. He worked as a salesman of paper products...paper bags, rope, twine, etc. During World War II, when those products were not available, he drove a taxi in the City of Boston but then returned to the paper product sales business after World War II.
