Born Brooklyn, NY. Commissioned 2LT, Field Artillery, Army of the United States, 1918. Discharged 1918. Answered the call of General Pershing to join the Army Reserve in 1924. Graduated Brooklyn Polytechnic College as an Electrical Engineer in 1922. Worked for the New York City subway system, and the Civilian Conservation Corps. Recalled to active duty as Major, Signal Corps in 1940. Chief Signal Officer, Port of Oran, 1942. Medically retired, 1943. Survived by his son, LTC Jeffrey Greenhut, and daughter, Sharon Harrison.
